The Pharmacists' Cooperative of Western Greece was founded in 1984, as the Pharmacists' Cooperative of Aetolia and Akarnania, established in Agrinio. In the first decade of its operation, the cooperative managed to include 70% of the pharmacies of the prefecture. In 2001, it merged with the Arta Cooperative and the subsidiary SYFART SA was founded having headquarters in Arta.
Today, the group SEFAR SPE - SYFART SA manages more than 25,000 codes of medicines and parapharmaceuticals, cooperates with 250 suppliers and operates in 7 prefectures of Western Greece (Aitoloakarnania, Arta, Preveza, Thesprotia, Lefkada, Fokida, Evritania). It now holds a leading position among the companies of this sector, while with the modern facilities in Giannouzi it managed to operate a model industrial unit that is a reference point for the development of the wider region.
